The Word is Alive celebrates poetry in all its incarnations, including spoken word poetry and performance poetry. It also features a snippet of the Dumaguete indie music scene. It features readings by Bron Teves, Razceljan Salvarita, Mae Young, Susan S. Lara, Elle Divine, Simon Alvarez, Marjorie Evasco, Grace Monte de Ramos, Christian Renz Torres, Nino de Veyra, John Bengan, Gemino H. Abad, Jessica Moldez, Cesar Ruiz Aquino, and Alfred Yuson.
It also features music by J Marie Maxino, Anna Katrina Espino, Andrew Alvarez, and Toby Alonzo.
The poetry night is co-hosted by fellows Jose Jason Chancoco and Daniel Olivan Jr. The reading, part of a series of literary events of the 53rd Silliman University National Writers Workshop, is open for free to the public.
