Carljoe Javier was born on September 7, 1981. He received his BA in English Studies, major in Creative Writing, from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 2004. He has been a fellow for fiction in the UP and Dumaguete National Writers Workshops, as well as a participant in the Panitikabataan Youth Literary Conference in 2004. His fiction and creative non-fiction have won various campus accolades, including the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Literary Awards and the Supernatural Story-Writing contest sponsored by the Institute of Creative Writing.
His short stories have appeared in anthologies and textbooks. They have also frequented magazines such as the Free Press , Philippine Graphic , and Fudge . His essays, film and music reviews, and other non-fiction pieces have been published in several periodicals including Manila Bulletin, Daily Tribune, Diliman Diary, Games Master, Extra Music, and Speed .
Carl has also been actively involved in the UP Samahan sa Agham Pampulitika, which has been privy to his immense leadership and organizational skills. At present he is working on an MA in Creative Writing in the UP Diliman while regularly churning out film and game reviews.
