Jose Domingo Karasig was born on July 31, 1904 in Malolos, Bulacan. He obtained a degree in journalism from the University of Manila, after which he took up the editorship of publications such as Ang Republika and Liwayway. In addition to being a reporter and columnist, Karasig also became acting provincial governer of Bulacan in 1946. He was a member of the organizations Bulalakaw, Tatsulok and Apat na Bituin.

He won several prizes for his poetry and fiction in Filipino. His short story “Pilyang-pilya” was published in the 50 Kuwentong Ginto ng 50 Batikang Kuwentista (1939), edited by Pedrito Reyes. A prolific novelist, some of the titles he wrote were Ang Saing-Saingan (1936), Agimat (1945), Tala ng Umaga (1948), and Anak ng Bulkan (1959). He passed away on August 22, 1975.
