Kasingkasing Press and Hubon Manunulat will hold “Magsugilanonay Kita: 1st West Visayan Mother Tongue Children’s Books Summit” on 26 September 2015 at Robinson’s Place Iloilo.
This summit aims to heighten the awareness of parents and teachers on the importance of children’s literature, and to expose them to the wealth of children’s books in Hiligaynon, Kinaray-a and Aklanon. The latter is most especially important since the Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education is now implemented.
The whole day activity will have students, parents, teachers, professionals and writers as audience. There will be talks on Children’s Literature in the Mother Tongue, The Role of the Illustrator in the Bookmaking Process and Best Practices in Copyright with notable writers from West Visayas as resource persons. Children’s books by writers from the region will be exhibited and sold during the event. The activity will be capped off with a reading of stories for children by members of Hubon Manunulat.
