Gawad Digmaang Rosas 11 now accepting entries (updated)

GENERAL MECHANICS:

  1. Gawad Digmaang Rosas 11 is open to Kapampangan Youth participants who are 15-30 years old before November 6, 2015 (ceiling age as defined by R.A. 8044 or the Youth in Nation-Building Act).
  2.  “Umalpas: Pagtatalaban ng Kaalaman at Karanasan” serves as the theme for the awards night which will be held in January 2016. Entries may or may not bear the theme.
  3. Participants who are not residents of Pampanga but have Kapampangan roots may join.
  4. Entries may be written in Kapampangan, Filipino or English. Entries should show Kapampangan sensibilities.
  5. Entries should be original and must not have been previously published, whether online or print, and/or included as an entry in any competition.
  6. A participant may join more than one category (genre) and division (language). However, entries in other division/s must not be a translated version.
  7. Past winners and finalists of Gawad Digmaang Rosas are allowed to join.
  8. Present Angelite editors, staff and their relatives are prohibited to join.
  9. Entries will remain as the participant’s property. However, The Angelite reserves the right to publish or use them in any activity.
  10. All entries, except for Photographer of the Year and Artist of the Year, should follow the prescribed format: Times New Roman, 12 pt., 1.5 spacing, 1 inch margin on all sides, 8.5 x 11 document.
  11. Real name, pseudonym, or any clue to the identity of the writer must not be written on the pages.
  12. Judges composed of established authors, critics and academicians will select and declare the winners. The decision of the judges is final.
  13. The judges will evaluate entries as a whole body of work.
  14. The judges may declare no winner in a category or division depending on the cut off score set by the organizing committee.
  15. Entries that do not comply with the requirements will not be processed.
  16. By joining GDR11, all participants are deemed to have accepted the rules of the contest and the terms and conditions set by the organizing committee.

IMPORTANT: Electronic entries, scanned I.D., Certificate of Originality, original or authenticated birth certificate shall be sent through gdr11.hau@gmail.com on or before November 6, 2015.

 

Entries in the Artist of the Year Category along with hard copies of Certificate of Originality and original or authenticated birth certificate must be hand-carried to The Angelite office, Room 102, St. Joseph Hall Bldg., Holy Angel University, Angeles City, Philippines on or before November 6, 2015.

Guidelines:

  1. Young Kapampangan Poet of the Year
    1. Five poems (collection or cycle) written in Kapampangan
    2. Cash Prize: 5,000 pesos
  2. Young Kapampangan Fictionist of the Year
    1. Three short stories written in Kapampangan (1500-5000 words)
    2. Cash Prize: 5,000 pesos
  3. Young Kapampangan Essayist of the Year
    1. Three essays written in Kapampangan (1500-5000 words)
    2. Cash Prize: 5,000 pesos
  4. Fictionist of the Year
    1. Three short stories in the same division (language)
    2. May be written in Filipino or English (1500-5000 words)
    3. Cash Prize: 3,000 pesos in each division
  5. Essayist of the Year
    1. Three essays in the same division (language)
    2. May be written in Filipino or English (1500-5000 words)
    3. Cash Prize: 3,000 pesos in each division
  6. Poet of the Year
    1. Five poems (collection or cycle) in the same division (language)
    2. May be written in Filipino or English
    3. Cash Prize: 3,000 pesos in each division
  7. Artist of the Year
    1. Minimum of two (2) art works.
    2. Any medium may be used in a plastic covered ½ illustration board or canvas.
    3. Cash Prize: 3,000 pesos
  8. Photo of the Year
    1. Photos must not be digitally altered. (Color enhancement, sharpness, contrast or digital equivalents are allowed.)
    2. Entries to be submitted should include the following requirements/details:

• Caption which is accurate and complete enough to convey the circumstance in which the photograph was taken
• Where the photo was taken (town/municipality, province/city/country)                                                                                                        
• When it was taken (complete date)                                                                                                                                                            
• Camera used

  1. Watermarked photos and those that have been previously submitted or have won in any local or international photography contest will be disqualified.
  2. Photos to be submitted must have been taken from January 2015 to November 6, 2015.
  3. By participating in GDR 11, the contestant acknowledges that the submitted photographs are a single work of original material created and taken solely by the participant and no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.
  4. Cash Prize: 3,000 pesos
