National conference on Cebuano language and literature to be held at the USC

The USC Cebuano Studies Center in cooperation with the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) will host the national conference on Cebuano language and literature on April 25-27, 2016 at the Gansewinkel Hall, University of San Carlos, Cebu City.The conference aims to address the issues and challenges of Cebuano language and literature in the struggle to improve the languages and literatures of the Philippines.

There will be sessions on the following topics: 1) History of Cebuano Literature; 2) Cebuano Literature and the Formation of the National Literature; 3) Contemporary Cebuano Literature; and 4) Cebuano Language/ in Central Visayas in line with K-12 and MTB-MLE.

There will be an awarding ceremony for the advocates of Cebuano: Dr. Resil Mojares, Dr. Erlinda Alburo, Hon. Adelino Sitoy and Atty. Cesar Kilaton, Jr. Mga Inalisngaw sa akong Tutunlan, the latest poetry collection by multi-awarded writer and editor of Bisaya magazine Richel Dorotan will be launched during the program.Participants from Region VII principals, teachers in the elementary, secondary and tertiary levels as well as writers and students are all invited to this activity.
