LIKHAAN: The UP Institute of Creative Writing will be holding a two-day teachers’ training and seminar on Creative Writing and Malikhaing Pagsulat dubbed, “Reading and Teaching Different Genres of Literature” on January 20 and 21, 2017 at Microtel, UP TechnoHub, Diliman, Quezon City.
The seminar is free of charge, and will include lectures by UP ICW associates and renowned writers Jun Cruz Reyes, Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo, Eugene Evasco, J. Neil Garcia, and Vladimeir Gonzales. The seminar will cater to teachers interested in writing, critiquing, and teaching literary works both in English and Filipino.
This teaching seminar was initiated by the UP ICW as a response to developments brought about by the implementation of the K12 program. The UP ICW understands that the establishment of Junior and Senior High School poses more challenges to teachers, primarily those teaching literature at the intermediate level, and sees this seminar as both timely and important to Philippine educators.
The panelists and trainers for the seminar are experts in the fields of poetry, fiction, drama, and creative non-fiction. Aside from lectures and talks on the craft of writing, some of the trainers will provide teaching demonstrations cum workshops on literary appreciation and criticism.
The two-day seminar will begin at 9am and runs until 5pm. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Fifty (50) participants will be accommodated, on a first-to-confirm basis. Interested parties should fill out the online form found here: https://goo.gl/forms/JktMLgZ0rk5KQXNr1.
