Kritika Kultura, the international refereed journal of language, literary, and cultural studies of the Department of English, Ateneo de Manila University, launches its double issue (30/31) on June 8, 2018, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at CTC 413, Ateneo de Manila University. The launch, followed by a simple reception, is open to the public.
KK 30/31 features essays by Danica Čerče on the politics of John Steinbeck’s literary reputation in Slovenia; Jimmyn Parc and Nobuko Kawashima on the contrasting business strategies of J-pop and K-pop; and Xavier Ortells-Nicolau on Juan Mencarini and Amateur Photography in Fin-de-siècle China.
On the publication of KK 30/31, the Kolum Kritika section features messages from the journal’s international board of editors. The messages are from Jan Baetens, Joel David, Regenia Gagnier, Inderpal Grewal, Peter Horn, David Lloyd, Bienvenido Lumbera, Rajeev S. Patke, Vicente L. Rafael, E. San Juan, Jr. and Antony Tatlow.
The Forum Kritika on Radical Cultural Responses to Crises in Urban Democracy is guest edited by Victor Merriman and Niamh Malone. The section features an introduction to the essays by Merriman.
