Christine Marie Lim Magpile graduated Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas and finished a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSEd) major in History and minor in Religious Education and School Guidance. She has finished her academic requirements for MA in Counseling at De La Salle University. She studied elementary to high school from St. Theresa’s College Q.C.
She has fourteen years of teaching experience handling Social Science subjects in high school and college from reputable academic institutions such as Immaculate Conception Academy of Manila, University of Santo Tomas High School, St. Peter the Apostle School, and Chinese General Hospital College of Nursing and Liberal Arts (now known as Chinese General Hospital Colleges).
Apart from being a teacher and freelance textbook editor, she is also textbook author for Basic Education (Bayan Kong Pilipinas 6, UPFA: 2010, Media and Information Literacy, Inteligente Publishing House: 2016, and Filipino: Pagbasa at Pagsulat Tungo sa Pananaliksik, Inteligente Publishing House: 2016). Currently, she works as a copy editor and administrative coordinator of the UP Press.
In 2017, her essay on Miguel Malvar won in the competition jointly sponsored by the National Historical Commission and Museo ni Miguel Malvar. In 2016, her book review on Musika sa Kasaysayan ng Filipinas: Pana-panahong Diskurso won in the weekly contest jointly sponsored by the Philippine Star and National Bookstore. She was a three-time finalist for the Salita ng Taon for her entries load (2010), kalakal (2014), and foundling (2016).
Her children’s book Kayumanggi (Lampara Publishing, 2013) was a finalist at the 3rd Filipino Readers’Choice Awards. Her poetry, short story, children’s fiction, and essay won in the 16th and 17th USTETIKA Awards. Her poem also won at the Ambahan competition from the De La Salle University’s Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center in 2007.
Her haikus are included in the anthology of Sustaining the Archipelago: An Anthology of Philippine Ecopoetry (UST Publishing House, 2018). Her creative nonfiction (“SM-Stop and Shop!”) appears in the 4th UP Likhaan Journal. Her flash fiction (“Spoilers”) appears in A Treat of 100 Short Stories (Anvil Publishing, 2011)
In 2018, she was a fellow at the 6th Angono Writers’ Summer Workshop as well as a writer’s fellow of KATAGA (Quezon City Chapter). She was a fellow for Filipino creative nonfiction in the 2008 UST National Writers’ Workshop and poetry fellow at LIRA (Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo) workshop in 2007.
She is also an active member of the Freelance Writers’ Guild of the Philippines (FWGP) and a registered author and editor of the National Book Development Board (NBDB).
