The Keyboard Department of the UP College of Music (UPCMu) will begin its 2018–2019 concert “Soundscapes of Central Europe” on September 22, 2018 (Saturday), 7:00 p.m., at the Abelardo Hall Auditorium, UP College of Music. It will feature piano ensemble and piano trio works as well as art songs by Czech, Hungarian, Polish, and Slovak composers.
The program includes Rondo for Two Pianos, op.73 by Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849); Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 S. 244/2 by Franz Liszt (1811–1886); Piano Trio in G Minor, op.15 by Bedřich Smetana (1824–1884); Valsette by Zoltán Kodály (1882–1967); Jazz Sonata for Two Pianos, op. 14 by Alexander Moyzes (1906-1984); excerpts from Slavonic Dances, op. 46 & op. 72 by Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) and selected art songs by Karol Szymanowski (1882–1937), Franz Liszt and Antonín Dvořák.
The Keyboard Department faculty and Lozada Piano Trio will render the musical performance. The concert is held in honor of the Centennial Independence of the Czech Republic and Poland as well as UPCMu’s partnership with the Visegrad Group, the embassies of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovak Republic.
