The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC), the Literature Department of De La Salle University, and LIRA will launch Nicolas Pichay’s Ang Lunes na Mahirap Bunuin (published by Librong LIRA) on March 14, 2020, Saturday, from 12nn to 1:30pm at the 6/F Learning Commons, Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University, 2401 Taft Avenue, Manila.

Pichay will also deliver a craft lecture on literature and the law titled “Poetry, Poetics, Politics, and Praxis.”  This lecture is part of the Graduate Research Forum of the Literature Department of DLSU. 

Ang Lunes na Mahirap Bunuin (The Intransigence of Mondays) was originally published by Publikasyong SIPAT in 1993 with English translations by Rose King-Dominguez, Gerardo Z. Torres, and Romulo P. Baquiran, Jr. The re-publication includes the 1993 introduction by National Artist Virgilio S. Almario and a new introduction by Lourd de Veyra.

Atty. Nicolas Pichay is a playwright, poet, and screenwriter. He received various literary awards such as the Carlos Palanca Literary Prize (2007 Hall of Fame), NCCA Literary Awards, CCP Literary Awards, Asian Cultural Council, and Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas of UMPIL (2016).  He studied BA Political Science and Bachelor of Laws in UP. He currently works as Director of Legislative Research Service of the Senate of the Philippines.

LIRA is a nationally recognized, volunteer-run, education non-government organization that seeks to promote literature, the Filipino language, and patriotism. LIRA is the oldest organization of poets in Filipino and one of the country’s premier literary groups.
