Gerald graduated at the University of Southern Mindanao with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English. He was a former Editor of The Mindanao Tech, the school’s publication, and a frequent contributor of the school-based literary folios. A full-blooded Tacurongnon, He is currently teaching at Notre Dame of Tacurong College as a Senior High School teacher of Language and Literature. He is a member of the SOX Writers Association and a member of SKWA (Sultan Kudarat Writers Association)
He is the winner of the 2008 United Methodist Church Pananaw Magazine National Poetry contest. He was a finalist of the UMC Awit Para kay Yahweh Songwriting Contest with the songs Kayong Natutulog, Kontra Agos, and Awit ng Manlalakbay. He also wonthe first ever 2017 Cotabato Province Poetry Contest with his poem San Gerardo and the Execoetidae. He authored three SOX Poetry Zines I, Alone, 2017, Ginapasaya Mo Ako, 2018 and Maalikabok Ka Lang Pero Kaganda Mo, 2019. And Co-edited the SOX Zines Kalimudan: Literary Work from Sultan Kudarat, 2018 and the Best of Sulat SOX, 2018.
His poems appeared in Bigkas Sarangani, Dagmay; the Literary Journal of DWG (Davao Writers Guild), ALPAS Journal, in the 3rd issue of Kasing-kasing non-required reading in the time of COVID, and Mindanao Harvest 4: Anthology of Mindanao Literature. He is a great supporter and a frequent contributor of the Cotabato Literary Journal. He was a fellow for poetry in the 2018 Davao Writers Workshop and the 26th Iligan National Writers Workshop where he won the Jimmy Balacuit Literary award for poetry.
