This is the second part of the episode that discusses the experiences of different writers in their attempts to write in a pandemic-stricken Philippines. The goal of this installment is not to pressure viewers into writing, rather to help unpack the difficulties of producing literature in these times and propose ways to work around them.

China Pearl Patria M. De Vera is an MA Araling Pilipino student at the University of the Philippines, where she graduated with a BA Malikhaing Pagsulat degree. She authored Kapit, Kapit, Bahay, Bahay. Currently she is the senior editor of Aklat Alamid and a member of Alliance of Concerned Teachers.

Si Chuckberry J. Pascual ay nagtapos sa UP Diliman. Awtor siya ng Kumpisal: mga kuwento (USTPH), Pagpasok sa Eksena (UP), Ang Nawawala (Visprint) at Ang Tagalabas sa Panitikan (2018). Nagtuturo siya sa UST at nagsisilbing Resident Fellow ng UST Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies at Research Fellow ng UST Research Center for Culture, Arts and Humanities.

Joi Barrios-Leblanc serves as a Lecturer at UC Berkeley after working as Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines. She is the author of several books, among them, “To Be a Woman is to Live at a Time of War,” and “From the Theater Wings:  Grounding and Flight of Filipino Women Playwrights.” She has won national literary awards, and was among the 100 women Weavers of History chosen for the Philippine Centennial, 1998. She received the TOWNS (Ten Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service) Award, 2004 and the Balagtas Lifetime Achievement Award for Filipino Poetry, 2016.

Kilala siya bilang manunulat na Jose Rey Munsayac. Ngunit Joey Munsayac naman bilang peryodista, komentarista sa radyo at dating pulitiko. Premyadong manunulat din si JRM, mula sa sa patimpalak ng Bagong Dugo ng Liwayway Magasin (1967), Palanca Memorial Award sa maikling Kuwento (2 ulit), Samahang Balagtas (2 ulit) at Surian ng Wikang Pambansa. Sa kasalukuyan, si Ka Joey lamang ang bukod tanging manunulat na Pilipino sa bansa na nagkamit ng prestihiyosong Gawad Sentinyal sa pagsusulat ng nobelang Pilipino ng dalawang ulit. Una sa Pagdiriwang ng Sentinyal ng Rebolusyong Pilipino laban sa Kastila sa kanyang nobelang Ang Aso at ang Pulgas, ang Bonsai at ang Kolorum (Unang Gantimpala) at sa Pagdiriwang ng Sentinyal ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (UP) sa kanyang nobelang Duguang Kamay sa Nilulumot na Pader (Unang Gantimpala). Nagtuturo rin siya sa Bulacan State University ng Malikhaing Pagsulat at Fellow ng Bahay Saliksikan ng Bulakan. Kasalukuyan niyang pinamamatnugatan ang lingguhang pahayagan na Dyaryong Pilipino Luzon Times at nagsasaka sa Bukid Kalikasan ng kanilang Angkan sa Biak na Bato, San Miguel de Mayumo, Bulakan, bilang magbubukid ng kalikasan.
