The LIKHAAN: UP Institute of Creative of Writing (UP ICW) is happy to announce that the UP National Writers Workshop (UPNWW) is pushing through in an online format. Formerly slated for April 12-19, 2020 in Baguio City, the 59th UPNWW will now be held from October 19 to 23, 2020 in a purely virtual format. This year’s workshop director is still Mr. Romulo Baquiran, Jr.

The workshop panel comprises the Advisers, Fellows, and Associates of the UP ICW. The ICW faculty consists of National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera, National Artist for Theater Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio, National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario, Gémino H. Evasco, Roland Tolentino, Romulo Baquiran Jr., Anna Sanchez, and Vladimeir Gonzales.
Sessions will be held daily during the duration of the workshop, with longer breaks in between to ensure that everyone is in good condition for the activities. Stay tuned to our website and social media for updates on the UPNWW.
The UP National Writers Workshop (UPNWW) aims to help writers who have already published (or are on the verge of publishing) a book or have won major literary awards, in further honing their craft. It is complemented by the Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Writers Workshop (ALBWW) for young and emergent writers, which has been postponed indefinitely in keeping with pandemic safety measures.
