Philippine PEN 2013 Conference will be on December 3-4 (Tuesday-Wednesday) at the Marilen Gaerlan Conservatory-North Wing, De La Salle University, Manila.
The theme is “Literature of Concord and Solidarity: The Writer as Peacemaker.” Our chairman and National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera will deliver the Andres Bonifacio Lecture on the first day. Jaime An Lim, editor of PEN Anthology on Mindanao peace, will be the keynote speaker. We will send you the complete program details as soon as we can.

PEN will be launching two books at the Congress: PENS AS SWORDS: The José Rizal Lectures (editor: Jose Victor Torres; publisher: Solidaridad) and Peace Mindanao (editor: Jaime An Lim; publisher: UST Publishing). If the Teaching Philippine Literature Manual (editor: Ronald Baytan; publisher: Anvil) can also be released by then, we shall have a harvest of three books. Our appreciation to all the contributors and the hardworkers behind these projects.

The publication of Peace Mindanao anthology and the Teaching Manual is made possible through the generous grant given by PEN International and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). These two projects (including the Teaching Philippine Literature Workshop in Cagayan de Oro last August 12) fall under the PEN International Beacon Centre Programme.

The conference is open to all PEN members. Please invite friends, literature lovers, and writers interested in joining PEN to attend the confab. Admission is free.
