VICENTE GARCÍA GROYON III holds a MFA in Creative Writing from De La Salle University-Manila, where he currently teaches as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Communication and is a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Literature. A member of the Philippine PEN, Groyon has been a fellow at the UP National Writers Workshop and Dumaguete Writers Workshop. His first novel, The Sky Over Dimas, received the 2002 Palanca Grand Prize for the Novel, a National Book Award in 2004 and the Madrigal-Gonzales Best First Book Award in 2005. Groyon recently edited a Philippine PEN anthology of new fiction in English entitled A Different Voice: Fiction by Young Filipino Writers and two anthologies of flash fiction entitled Very Short Stories for Harried Readers and Mga Kuwentong Paspasan.
