The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) is one of the hardest-hit victims of Glenda. The said typhoon on 16 July 2014 devastated the first art high school in the country. To this day, it has damaged not only its facilities but also its power supply that has been greatly affecting the performances of its students and employees. International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the largest non-profit agricultural research center in Asia, decided to hug and help PHSA, one of its oldest neighbors in the Los Baños Science Community. For months, a series of meetings of minds and hearts has led similarly to another meeting, that is, of the spirit of oneness and offering.

Thus, BAYANIHANDOG was born.

Little did they know that when BAYANIHAN meets HANDOG, one of the harvests will, literally, be ANI! So, for their opening salvo, or “ANIHAN,” the young PHSA art scholars will present what they do best — showcasing the talents and gifts of young creative writers, dancers, musicians, thespians, and visual arts – with IRRI’s pride Tony Lambino of Smokey Mountain fame! This time, all will be in honor of rice, world’s most popular staple food, at the D.L.Umali Seminar Rooms A,B, and C, IRRI, Los Baños, Laguna today, 3 December, 7:00p.m.

Ticket prices are P5,000, P1,000, and P500. For details, please call Ms. Shirley de Quiros at #09178663099 and Ms. Sylvia Avance at #049-536-2701 loc.2810 or 02-580-5600 loc.2810.

All proceeds will be for the repair and rehabilitation of PHSA.
