On December 11, the National Book Development Board (NBDB) in cooperation with the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care Inc., (PFBCI) will conduct a writing workshop for women entitled Women Writing Women (WWW) at the Breast Care Center OPD East Avenue Medical Center, Quezon City. This campaign is pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 10398 dated March 19, 2013, entitled Declaring November 25 of Every Year as National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).
With the theme: “End VAW Now! It’s Our Duty!” the 2014 Annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) seeks to increase awareness of right-bearers on violence against women and children and to augment the efforts of the duty-bearers in eliminating violence. In line with this advocacy, the NBDB will hold a writing workshop that will focus on the woman’s body and give her a voice to define and assert her perspective on health, social, and political issues. Participants of this activity are breast cancer patients of the PFBCI.
Chingbee Cruz, poet and professor, will facilitate the writing workshop.
NBDB with its effort to help eliminate violence against women and children encourages more Filipino women to voice their perspectives through writing.
