Ninotchka Rosca is a Philippine-born New York resident novelist, writer, organizer and advocate of women’s liberation. She has had eight books published, receiving many awards for both her literary and journalist pieces. She is generally acknowledged as the first Filipino in contemporary times to have opened the door to being published by the mainstream in the US. She was also the first Filipina to have been published by scores of mainstream periodicals. Her two novels — “State of War” and “Twice Blessed” — are considered classics of Philippine literature. Currently, she works with the women’s organization AF3IRM on developing the theory and practice of intersectional/transnational feminism.
