On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the LIKHAAN: UP Institute of Creative Writing held the first Gémino H. Abad Seminar-Workshop on Teaching Literature on September 20-22 at the University Hotel, UP Diliman. The workshop was open to junior and senior high school teachers in the K-12 curriculum from all over the country. Of the sixty-three (63) applicants, fifty-four (54) were accepted and forty-six (46) attended.
For this year, Gémino H. Abad was our workshop director together with selected panelists Alfred A. Yuson for Fiction, Susan S. Lara for Creative Non-Fiction, Mookie Lacuesta-Katigbak for Poetry, and Floy Quintos for Drama. The three-day workshop consisted of lectures, open forums, breakout sessions, and a UP tour.
