Marren Araña Adan currently works as an editor in Ortigas, Philippines. He was a fellow for urban design and cultural studies in the 8th Kritika National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism (Iloilo, 2017); fiction in both the 17th Iyas La Salle National Writers’ Workshop (Manila, 2017) and the UST National Writers’ Workshop (Baguio, 2017).

He presented his researches in various international conferences which include Pagdiriwang: Festivals as Heritage (2019); University of the Philippines-Diliman’s [email protected]: International Conference Marking the Centennial of Philippine Anthropology (2017); Philosophical Association of the Philippines’ International Conference on 45 Years of Jacques Derrida’s Signature Event Context (2016); and in the De La Salle University-Manila’s Elitism in Art and Culture (2016).

He was invited as a resource speaker on topics which include quantitative and qualitative researches, doing action research, film literacy, and teaching critical thinking skills, language and literature. He also delivered a lecture on Zen-Buddhism at the Far Eastern University- Diliman’s Understanding the Soul of Asia: Forum on Asian Religions and Philosophies (2017).

He is the cofounder of Consortium for Interdisciplinary Studies and is the current President of Valenzuela Arts and Literary Society. He is also an active member of different organizations such as Center for Intercultural Philosophy, Zen Center Manila, Order of the Knights of Rizal, and Philippine Historical Association.

He writes poetry, fiction, and criticism. His works can be read in Inkwentro, Basag Anthology, Liwayway, Gaslight Online, Valenzuela Network, and Kult Journal of Philippine Local Studies. His collaborative work “Ortigas Excursions” won the Komura; Creators Grant 2019.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Language Education from the University of the Philippines Diliman.
