Pigments: Coloring with Philippine culture and heritage is a coloring zine, available in English and Filipino, which attempts to help children appreciate heritage and culture through coloring. While the Philippines has rich and diverse cultural heritage beyond those featured here, some examples of these are picked to help facilitate understanding of the basic elements of art. The zine title takes off from the word, pigments, as a source of all colors, perhaps a reflection of the basics of art production — the mere fact that our ancestors have discovered using mundane objects to use as pigments for prehistoric art. The collective relates this to teaching elements of art through these visual cues as part of the basics in arts education. Pigments is the first digital project of X+ Platform for 2020 after its reformation and expansion from its being UP Art Educators’ Society.
