The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC) and the Department of Literature of De La Salle University are pleased to issue the call for submissions for You Lovely People: An Online Literary Conference on Bienvenido N. Santos scheduled on March 22, 2022, the 101st birth anniversary of beloved Mang Ben.

Organized as a community engagement project in celebration of BNSCWC’s 30th anniversary, the conference addresses the dearth of scholarship and teaching resources on Philippine canonical writers such as Bienvenido N. Cutting-edge papers on the poetry, short fiction, novels, and nonfiction work of Santos are welcome. Sample themes include: imagining the nation; reconceptualizing exilic writings; reinventing America; travels with Santos; teaching Santos in the 21st century; space, time, and Santos; Santos, class, and Philippine politics; homosocialities and queer sexualities; dis/abilities and power; en/gendering archipelagic dreams; texts and performances on/of Santos; desires and the unconscious; spirituality and the Divine in Santos; translating Santos; c/siting disasters and the environment; Santos and the regions; and engaging with Santos in the New Normal.
