Sorsogon City, Philippines– Various art organizations together with youth groups will be holding virtual and physical screenings c of Cinema Rehiyon’s short and feature films by regional filmmakers coming from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region.

Organized and presented by Rm. 74 with Kurit-Lagting Art Collective, Rhymes of Peg, SabaDugtungan, Concerned Artists of the Philippines Bicol Chapter and Jasmin Youth Auxiliary Ministry, the virtual screening dubbed as “Makatang Sinehan” (Poetic Cinema), will showcase (3) selected films namely, An Eidolon Named Night by Hans Piozon (2021), Pasilong by Toni Cañete (2021), and Hija by Christian Paul Lim (2021) on March 6, 2022 at 2pm. 

The physical community screening of the film set Pakigbisog featuring Tiempo Suerte by Jonathan Jurilla (2021), Ahmad and Abdul by Jamal Baulo (2021), Mary Jane (Marijuana) by Chynna Dalogdog (2021), Image (Image) by James Christopher Exconde (2019), Inampalataya (Faith in Mary) by Jhonny Bobier (2021), and Exodo (Exodus) by Raboni Centino Borbon (2021) will be held on March 12, 2022, 6pm at Burabod Chapel in Castilla, Sorsogon. Strict guidelines will be implemented to ensure compliance to local, national, and international Covid-19 health and safety protocols.

Cinema Rehiyon 14 is a non-competition film festival that complements the film making frontiers of the various regions of the Philippines outside Metro Manila. It is among the Philippines’ most-awaited events for regional cinema, which started last February 25, 2022 in Davao City, and will show films nationwide through online video-on-demand platforms and physical screenings. Cinema Rehiyon is a flagship project of NCCA’s National Committee on Cinema.The films will explore many topics on various concerns and social issues that promote cinema as a tool for social change.

The groups already launched their first virtual screening which was also organized and presented by Rm. 74, with Kurit Lagting, Rhymes of Peg, and SabaDugtungan  last February 27, 2022 featuring VinJo Entuna’s “Ang Amomonggo sa Aton” (The Monster Among Us). The group also held a post-screening discussion with the filmmaker.
