Tacloban, Leyte – Nothing can stop the seventh annual celebration of National Literature Month! This April’s celebration is under the leadership of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in collaboration with the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) and the National Book Development Board (NBDB). of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) held every April, the Month of Literature in accordance with Proclamation No. 968 signed in 2015.

This year, Literature Month 2022 is celebrated with the event “Unang Pambansang Kumperensiya sa Buwan ng Panitikan: Muling Pagtuklas sa mga Karunungang-Bayan” as an encouragement and way to stimulate the interest of current and past generations when it comes to learning, rediscovering, and preserving stories and folklore. and of its various forms and forms. This national conference, led by the Leyte Normal University Sentro ng Wika at Kultura through April 28 to 30. The said conference is a venue for important issues related to language, literature and journalism in the Philippines. In this Webinar, selected experts in their field are invited to share their innovative and up -to -date knowledge and insights on the said topics. It is hoped that through this conference, participants will gain a deeper and broader knowledge that will pave the way for the enrichment of Philippine languages and cultures. The law recognizes the importance of literature in preserving and continuing to enrich the cultural heritage of our ancestors. This festival features literary works created by Filipinos, whatever language this country is written in, that has great relevance to Filipino history and culture.

The theme of National Literature Month 2022 is “Pananaliksik sa mga Karunungan-Bayan ng Waray at sa iba pang Panig ng Pilipinas” which aims to stimulate Filipinos’ interest in the study, rediscovery, and preservation of stories and folklore. This year’s conference aims to highlight the big part of this historic event in the region’s culture and art, especially in literature. In this conference, along with various programs have been prepared for the entire month of April.

The National Conference can be watched live on the official Facebook Page of the Filipino Language Commission on schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. KWF will continue to promote seminars on language, culture, and literature that are among the priority projects of Chairman Arthur P. Casanova and LNU SWK Director Dr. Alvin De Mesa. During the first day, Dr. Annabelle Balderian from the Samar-Leyte Region and Dr Mary Ann Macaranas  of Pangasinan State University served as plenary speakers. During the next day, Dr. Aldwin Amat from Leyte Normal University and Dr. Randy Nobleza of the Marinduque State College Senro ng Wika at Kultura presented their studies about Folklore and cultural research. By the afternoon, both professional and student researchers were given a chance to present their respective studies with the said theme. Dr. Narcisa Bureros would be closing the conference with her plenary session about Dapitan City’s Folk Knowledge and its implication to culture.
