Herlyn Alegre

HERLYN ALEGRE, currently based in Tokyo, Japan, juggles her full-time profession as a researcher and her passion for the arts as she writes for film and the stage on the side. Her debut play, Imbisibol, was staged at the Virgin Labfest in 2013 and was revisited in 2014. It was later adapted for screen and was recognized for Best Screenplay at Sinag Maynila, where it debuted in 2015, and at the Los Angeles Philippine International Film Festival in 2017. She was also named Film Ambassador by the Film Development Commission of the Philippines in 2017. Her other plays staged at the Virgin Labfest were Huling Huli (2015), Bahay-Bahayan, Tagu-Taguan (2016) and Fangirl (2019). Her plays have also been included in various anthologies such as Mga Piling Dula mula sa Virgin Labfest 2013-2016 published by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She also received training on the Theatre of the Oppressed at the Centro de Teatro do Oprimido in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2017. Her current research project focuses on the use of Theatre for Development for HIV/AIDS education in the Philippines.

LAYETA BUCOY earned her MFA Creative Writing degree (with high distinction) from De La Salle University and her BA Communication Arts degree (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. She has been recognized as Distinguished Alumna for Creative Writing of the UPLB College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Association (2013), UPLB CAS Distinguished Alumna for BA Communication Arts (2012), and UPLB Outstanding Creative Artist (2005). As a playwright, she already collaborated with Tanghalang Pilipino (Walang Kukurap, Isang Dosenang Sapatos, Melanie, Prinsipe Munti, Kleptomaniacs, Sura), and PETA (Bona). A few of her plays had already been presented in Ireland, Australia, Japan, India, and Indonesia. She’s a five-time Palanca awardee for “The Adopted Healthy Baby,” “El Gaelon de Simeon,” “Ellas Inocentes,” “Ang Repleksiyon ni Ms. Trahano,” and “Doc Resureccion: Gagamutin ang Bayan,” which also won her the Philstage Gawad Buhay Best Original Script in 2012.

Luna Sicat-Cleto

LUNA SICAT-CLETO is a playwright and essayist. She is also the author of two novels, Makinilyang Altar (2003) and Mga Prodigal(2010). Her poetry, drama and short fiction have been anthologized in Ang Labintatlong Mga Pasaway (2015), Telon: Antolohiya ng mga Dula (2015), and Paano Ba Magbasa ng Panitikan? (2006), among others. She is currently the Vice Head for Literary Arts of the National Committee on Literary Arts and is also a board member of the Women Playwrights International-Philippines.

Si VLAD GONZALES ay guro sa Departamento ng FIlipino at Pantikan ng Pilipinas, kung saan siya ay nagtuturo ng malikhaing pagsulat, panitikan, at kulturang popular. Naitampok na ang kanyang mga akda sa iba’t ibang publikasyon, katulad ng mga libro

ng sanaysay sa Isang Napakalaking Kaastigan (2008) at A-Side/B-Side; ang mga Piso sa Jukebox ng Buhay Mo (2009) ng Milfores Publishing. Naging aktibo siya sa pagsasalin

ng mga dula at pagsusulat ng mga piyesang pang-entablado simula noong 2009. Noong 2015, nagwagi ng Gawad Carlos Palanca ang isa sa kanyang dulang “Mal.” Makikita ang kanyang mga larawan at akda sa vladgonzales.net.

Malou Jacob

Si MALOU JACOB ay isang manunulat ng dula at documentary filmmaker. Siya ay nagtapos ng Bachelor of Arts in Communication  sa Maryknoll College (ngayon ay Miriam College) at ipinagpatuloy niya ang pag-aaral sa larangan ng TV Production at Direction sa City University of New York, Brooklyn College; at Film Production naman sa New York University. Siya ay naging residenteng manunulat ng dula ng PETA. Kabilang sa kanyang mga dulang pantelebisyon ang “Holen at Lastiko,” “Adela,” “Pagod na Ako, Irog,” at ang “Bata, Saan ka Patungo?” Nakapagsulat rin siya ng mga aklat na nagkamit ng iba’t ibang gantimpala, tulad ng “Juan Tamban” (1984), Modern ASEAN Plays (1992), “Teatro Pulitikal” (1994) at iba pa.  Awardee siya ng SEAWRITE noong 2005; Gawad CCP Para sa Sining noong 2008; KBP Golden Globe at CMMA Awards; Best Radio Drama sa Radio Balintanaw noong 2017; at UMPIL Gawad Balagtas for Drama noong 2018.

Dennis Marasigan

DENNIS MARASIGAN is an experienced and multi-awarded theater, film and television director, writer, lighting designer, actor, producer, and mentor, who has also held key management positions in various institutions and cultural organizations. A graduate of BA Theater Arts and Mater of Public Administration from the University of the Philippines (UP), he handles classes in film and audio-visual production, writing for mass media, arts management and marketing, and theater arts. As a writer, his works have won awards from the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, Cultural Center of the Philippines, University of the Philippines, Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, and Golden Screen Awards. As a director, he has been awarded the Gawad Buhay for Outstanding Direction of a Play.  A Civil Service Career Executive Service Officer V and a free-lance artist with over 600 productions to his credit, he is currently the Head of the Theater Arts Program of Meridian International College of Business and Arts and Adviser of the Mapua Tekno Teatro. He continues to mentor young artists while finding time for his creative pursuits in the various media and performing arts.
