LIKHAAN: UP Institute of Creative of Writing (UP ICW) announces the fellows to the 58th UP National Writers Workshop to be held on July 7-14, 2019 in Baguio City, helmed by this year’s workshop director, Anna Felicia Sanchez.
The workshop panel is comprised of the Advisers, Fellows, and Associates of the UP ICW. The ICW faculty consists of National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera, National Artist for Theater Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio, National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario, Gémino H. Abad, Jose Y. Dalisay Jr., Charlson Ong, Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo, J. Neil Garcia, Jun Cruz Reyes, Ramon Guillermo, Victor Emmanuel Carmelo Nadera Jr., Luna Sicat Cleto, Eugene Y. Evasco, Roland Tolentino, Romulo Baquiran, Anna Sanchez, and Vladimeir Gonzales.
The fellows for this year, previously published and/or awarded writers set on furthering their craft, are Juan Ekis (Tula, Filipino), Ronnie E. Baticulon (Creative Nonfiction, English), Christopher Gozum (Screenplay, English and Pangasinan), Denver Torres (Poetry, English), Gerardo Los Baños (Fiction, English), Jerome Hipolito (Poetry, Bikol), Charmaine Lasar (Fiction, Filipino), Dawn Marfil (Creative Nonfiction, English), Paul Castillo (Poetry, Filipino), Francis Paolo Quina (Fiction, English), Rene Boy Abiva (Poetry, Filipino), and Sarah Lumba (Fiction, English).’
This year’s workshop also features the special participation of eminent writer in several languages, Kristian Sendon Cordero.
Previously dedicated to helping up-and-coming writers, the UP National Writers Workshop (UPNWW) has been reformatted to mentoring writers in mid-career. The workshop aims to help writers who have already published (or are on the verge of publishing) a book, or have won major literary awards, further hone their craft.
All fellows are entitled to a modest stipend and free hotel accommodation.
